A Cocktail Menu is Essential to Growing Sales
(2011)
Murphy, James Peter
Abstract:
<p>The earliest mention of a cocktail menu list in Ireland dates back to Saturday 10th July 1886 when the original Burlington Hotel, Andrew Street, Dublin advertised it’s range of available cocktails (Irish Times Ltd, p.7). The cocktail menu has indeed been around quite a long time but unfortunately a lot of bars do not afford it the same level of attention which they would give to their food or wine menus. Your cocktail menu is a most crucial component towards creating the right image, attention to detail and innovative approaches to your bars cocktails for your customers. The menus form, layout, content, and perhaps even the character of the menu can provide your customers with an insight into the very heart of your bar. In most cases, the menu placed in front of a customer (in the bar or over the internet) is the only chance that you have to communicate what your unique product is, and why it is better then your competitors. Cocktails all...

A Review of Key Factors Affecting the Adoption of Self-Service Technologies in Tourism.
(2010)
Kelly, Petranka; Lawlor, Jennifer; Mulvey, Michael
Abstract:
<p>During the past ten years self-service technologies (SSTs) have attracted research attention especially in the banking, retail and airline sectors. The infusion of technology in the service encounter has been identified as being advantageous to both the service provider and the consumer. Service provider companies may reduce costs, increase consumer satisfaction and tap into new markets which have been made accessible via the Internet. From a consumer’s point of view, SSTs can save money and time, provide convenience, and in some cases, enjoyment. All the above mentioned advantages are achievable only if SSTs gain adoption among consumers. In light of the importance of consumer participation in SSTs, this paper reviews the state of the SST adoption literature in an attempt to identify the most important influencing factors. Seven factors emerged as the ones of key research interest in the literature and they are discussed in more detail. These include risk, trust, perceive...

A Systematic Approach to Design of Distance Graduate Management Programmes
(2011)
Rodriguez, Pauline
Abstract:
<p>This study describes the systematic creation, application and evaluation of a<br />comprehensive framework for the design of distance graduate programmes, the goal of which is to inform decision-making for sustainable curricula that suit the growing demand for flexible learning options. A wide range of challenges face educators, and existing models appear to be insufficient to guide such endeavours. Successful distance learning is rooted in the values of the institution and requires a significant amount of organizational support, needs assessment of stakeholders, strategic planning, implementation and evaluation. This first international study of distance masters degree programmes in Tourism and Hospitality Management (T&HM) employs an exploratory mixed method research design in a comprehensive investigation of the interrelated elements that contextualize and are part of the distance graduate curriculum. Director interviews and online surveys of alumni contribute ...
