Abstract:
<p>Road traffic accidents are consistently in the top ten causes of death world-wide. In order to reduce the number of fatalities caused by traffic collision, better knowledge and understanding of the sequence of events prior to and during a traffic accident, i.e. Accident Reconstruction, is required, so it is important to obtain detailed quantitative information about the damage sustained by the crashed vehicle(s). The research reported here was aimed at developing a fast and accurate method of measuring the damage. Digital Close Range Photogrammetry is the technique chosen for obtaining vehicle profiles from which accurate measurements of crust damage could be made. These profiles can provide valuable information about the collision. They can be used to find the orientation(s) of the vehicle(s) at the moment of impact. Abstract:
<p>The aim of this paper is to examine the extent to which detailed empirical analysis of the metrology and proportional systems used in the design of Irish ecclesiastical architecture can be analysed to provide historical information not otherwise available. Focussing on a relatively limited sample of window tracery designs as a case study, it will first set out to establish what, if any, systems were in use, and then what light these might shed on the background, training and work practices of the masons, and, by association, the patrons responsible for employing them.</p>

<p>The creation of detailed 3D buildings models, and to a greater extent the creation of entire city models, has become an area of considerable research over the last couple of decades. The accurate modeling of buildings has LBS (Location Based Services) applications in entertainment, planning, tourism and e-commerce to name just a few. Many modeling systems deployed to date require manual correspondences to be made across the image set in order to determine the models 3D structure. This paper describes SAMATS, a Semi-Automated Modelling and Texturing System, which has the capability of producing geometrically accurate and photorealistic building models without the need for manual correspondences from a set of geo-referenced terrestrial images. This paper is the third in a trilogy of publications describing the entire SAMATS system, and describes the third of three components that comprise the full functionality of the complete SAMATS implementation.
