Norwegian Institute for Alcohol and Drug Research (SIRUS)
Abstract:
This is the fourth annual report to the EMCDDA from the Norwegian Institute for Alcohol and Drug Research (SIRUS) on the drugs situation in Norway. The report has been drawn up in accordance with the new reporting guidelines introduced by the EMCDDA this year. We have endeavoured to follow these as consistently as possible, with the main focus on “new developments” and substantial changes in epidemiology, legislation and organisation. To allow readers to obtain more background information the report contains a number of references to the national report for 2003, and occasional references to the report for 2002.This resource was contributed by The National Documentation Centre on Drug Use.

2007 report on compliance with part 5 of the Disability Act 2005 on employment of people with disabilities in the public service
(2008)
National Disability Authority
Abstract:
Part 5 of the Disability Act 2005 (the Act) covers the obligations on public service bodies to employ people with disabilities. There are three interlinked requirements. Firstly, public bodies must, insofar as practicable, take all reasonable measures to promote and support the employment of people with disabilities. Secondly, unless there are good reasons to the contrary, at least 3% of their employees must be people with disabilities. Finally, on an annual basis, public bodies must report to the statutory Monitoring Committee, (who in turn submit their report to the Minister of their parent Department and the National Disability Authority), on the number of people with disabilities in their employment and the measures they are taking to support their employment.

2007 Spearhead Health Inequalities Intervention Tool (and Press Release)
(2007)
London Health Observatory and York and Humber Public Health Observatory for Association of Public Health Observatories (APHO)
Abstract:
The Health Inequalities Intervention Tool, developed by APHO, highlights the key issues that Spearhead local authorities (with their PCTs) need to address to meet the Government۪s life expectancy targets. It can be used by any Spearhead Primary Care Trust or local council to find out what the underlying causes of the life expectancy gap are for that area. This Tool is designedto allow "Spearhead" Local Authorities/PCTs tounderstand better how they might reduce the inequalties between them and the national picture. (Please note that there are no "Spearhead" PCTs in the East of England. However, plans are being drawn up to address this and allow the developmentof this tool that is of use to all PCTs.)

Abstract:
The DIT-ACHIEV Model for the Sustainable Management of Tourism has been developed by the School of Hospitality Management and Tourism, Dublin Institute of Technology and is endorsed by the Environmental Protection Agency and Fáilte Ireland. It explores six areas of investigation - Administration, Community, Heritage, Infrastructure, Enterprise and Visitor. The purpose of piloting this DIT- ACHIEV model in Killarney is to test its use with the objective to refine and adjust its methodology, so that it can be applied in any Irish tourism destination. Early indications are that The Model will provide the Irish tourism Industry with a valuable tool for making its product and management far more sustainable. In addition to data such as environmental measurements, information on water, waste, energy, transport, examination of local cultural, environmental and employment statistics, the model requires the undertaking of three dedicated surveys: A Resident Survey A Business Survey...

2010 Review of supported accommodation services for women during and after pregnancy
(2010)
Liz Lennon, Liz; O’Connor, Hugh
Abstract:
The function of the HSE Crisis Pregnancy Programme (formerly the Crisis Pregnancy Agency1) is to bring strategic focus to the issue of crisis pregnancy. A ‘crisis pregnancy’ is defined by the HSE Crisis Pregnancy Programme (HSE CPP) as “a pregnancy which is neither planned nor desired by the woman concerned and which represents a personal crisis for her”. The HSE CPP understands this definition to include the experiences of those women for whom a planned or desired pregnancy develops into a crisis over time due to a change in circumstances. The HSE CPP is tasked with developing and implementing a national strategy to address the issue of crisis pregnancy in Ireland. The Statutory Instrument (No. 466 of 2001), which established the former Crisis Pregnancy Agency, stated that one aim of setting up the Agency was: To reduce the number of women with crisis pregnancies who opt for abortion by offering supports and services which make other options more attractive.
