Jhe Annual Report for 1994 outlines the main activities
of An Bord Altranais during the year under the
headings of Education and Training, Fitness to Practice
and Registration.
It is my pleasure to present the report for a year in
which significant progress was made by the statutory
regulatory body in its areas of responsibility.
June 1994 saw the publication of the major document
entitled The Future of Nurse Education and Training in
Ireland, the report of the review group which had been
working since 1990. The launch of this blueprint for the
future of nurse education and training was very well
received by the nursing profession, the Minister for
Health, agencies in the health sector and the wider
public. The main recommendations are given in full in this report. Ita O'Dwyer.
