Fulfilling the potential of persons with intellectual disability: annual report, 2002. Directors' report and statement of accounts for the year ended 31st December, 2002.
COPE Foundation.
Throughout 2002 matters of finance occupied a considerable amount of Board and Management time. Government under·funding of our budgeted requirements put our resources, both human and physical under enormous strain. However, the considerable skills of Chief Executive, Maura Nash and her management team, together with the generous and wholehearted response of every member of staff, succeeded in delivering acceptable levels of service to our clients throughout the year. COPE Foundation cannot sustain this pressure without some element of its services or standards suffering, and such outcomes are not acceptable to us. On behalf of the Board and myself, I would like to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to every member of staff throughout COPE Foundation for their dedication and professionalism in these hard times. Elsewhere in this report you will see the statement of "Vision, Mission and Goals" adopted by the Board in 2002. This statement was produced after lengthy self· analysis in all sectors of COPE Foundation and with contributions from all relevant parties. We now have a proper focus on the full range of our activities and our advocacy on behalf of our clients into the future. Taken together with our strategic plan we have a platform on which to make our case to Government and this we have done in the course of several meetings with Southern Health Board senior management.
