Molecular and radiological prediction of response to neo-adjuvant chemoradiation in patients with oesophageal cancer
Gillham, Charles Martin
THESIS 9046 The initial phase of the project’s laboratory component involved optimising techniques that would become necessary when analysing fresh oesophageal tissue. There are a number of commercially available techniques for tissue collection, storage and homogenisation as well as RNA extraction. Some of the more common techniques, as identified in the literature and available within the Trinity Laboratories, were studied. A number of experiments were performed on fragments of tissue removed following a routine oesophagectomy.
