Ireland has a strong track record in tobacco control. Progress has been made in tackling harm caused by smoking through a comprehensive range of efforts across pricing, legislation, public education & warnings, and treatment services. The Department of Health provides leadership for the implementation of Tobacco Free Ireland, the current national policy on tobacco use, which sets a vision for a society where tobacco use has been eliminated and smoking prevalence is less than 5% by 2025.
