A sample survey at medical card holders was carried out in all counties from
January to March 1977. This survey extends the September similar survey
which was carried out in November and December. 1973.
1.2 Objective
The objective of the survey was two-fold. namely:-
(a) To build up a comprehensive profile of medical card holders by obtaining
information on selected characteristics of holders such as occupation
marital status and number of dependants.
(b) To monitor change if any in the characteristics of medical card
holders since the 1971 survey_
1.3 The Survey
The survey was conducted by selecting a sample of the application forms
tor medical cards and recording on a questionnaire information under the
following headings for each selected card holder:-
(a) Occupation
(b) Welfare benefit, if any. of which the card holder has the receipt
(c) Date at birth
(d) Marital Status
(e) Sex
(f) Number of child dependants
(g) Rateable valuation of land owned by farmers
