The National Forum for Coronary Heart Disease Prevention welcomes the intention of government
to draw up a national strategy for physical activity, and is keen to participate in this process, through
our representation on the national Physical Activity Task Force, and our own networks. Physical
activity: An agenda for action is the Forum response to the Task Force consultation document and is
intended to inform the development of a national strategy. It summarises the evidence on the health
benefits of moderate physical activity, focusing on coronary heart disease (CHD), and points to the
need for a coordinated strategy which builds on the activities offering the best potential for change.
The report also sets out ideas for action by different sectors at national and local level.
